After two superhit films Shahrukh Khan and Farah Khan are tagging up for another flick.
It is a team that first gave a hit in Main Hoon Na and then set new box-office record with Om Shanti Om (though that record has now been broken by Singh Is Kinng ). Both the films were escapist cinema at its entertaining best with a dash of Farah’s special ode to her favourite cinema from the 1970s.
Now, Farah Khan is set to return to direction with a film that will be produced by Shahrukh Khan’s Red Chillis Entertainment.
The movie is Happy New Year which, as many readers would know, Farah planned to make two years back. However, things turned out such that ‘Om Shanti Om’ got made first and ‘HNY’ was put on the backburner.
Now, Farah is reviving the project. However, she has made a few changes in the script. Her hubby Shirish Kunder – who has edited Farah’s previous two films and has also directed his own movie Jaaneman – has reportedly been helping Farah in writing the script of ‘Happy New Year’.
It may still take months, if not weeks, before the script of the film is complete. After that, Farah will finalize the cast. It goes without saying that Shahrukh will play the lead role. Apart from SRK, Farah plans to rope in some newcomers and some established stars.
The movie’s shooting will begin next year. It would be another full-on commercial entertainer. Whether it would have yet another tribute to the 70s remains to be seen!
